Summary:
Dimension Hunter is a 2D metroidvania game, with a hint of dark soul. The combat closely resemble metroid while also incorporating fluid movement such as rolling found in dark soul. The level design is heavily insipired by dark soul where each area is mostly connected to each other, however just like metroid and castlevania, the player need to acquire new power in order to progress through harder areas. I created all the story, design, script and also the art found in the game. The Demo of the game won 1st place at the Academy of Art 2018 Spring Show in Game Level category.
Design Overview:
In term of design, I designed the player basic ability, the enemy AI as well as the level design. I also already designed the player power up and items system and working on implementing it into the game. My design goal for the demo level was to introduce weaker enemies to familiarize the player with the control and then started to add more challenging enemy along the way. At the end of the demo I put in a boss fight. I aim the game to be hard as Dark Soul is one of my primary inspiration, so I did expect that the player will die a few times before finishing the demo. The lever and gate puzzle at the beginning of the level serve as an introduction to the player the there will be interactive object in the game that the player can use to further traverse the game world.

Programming Overview:
I created all code that is in the game, which includes the enemy AI, boss AI, player movement mechanics, camera system as well as the UI and buttons system. It is all done in C# and Unity.
